Nothing! The app is free to download and the card is free to order, use and spend with. Even abroad.
Cards usually take just around a week to arrive. If you opt for a virtual card, you can start using it straight away and add it to Apple Pay or Google Pay for even safer spending.

It’s really easy to stay 100% fee-free by sticking to a couple of simple rules: deposits in to your HyperJar account should be for £10 or more. And we allow four transfers out of your HyperJar account to a bank each calendar month, after which we charge 50p a time. There’s more info on fees & limits here: https://hyperjar.com/fees-limits

No. One of the great things about a prepaid card that you can’t get into debt and no one is trying to pitch you an overdraft or credit product.
If you think your student card has been lost or stolen, you can freeze it in your app immediately. You can do this by going to the Profile tab, selecting Manage Card, and then make sure Freeze Card is toggled on.
Once you’ve done this, the card will not work until you unfreeze it in the app. If you can’t find the card, you should then contact us via Live Chat for more help.
HyperJar is not a bank, but you’ll get many of the same benefits and some extra security features too. Unlike many traditional banking apps and cards, we offer loads of money management and spending tools. If you lose your HyperJar card, you can freeze it directly from the app (and unfreeze it if the card is found).
