How do I apply for a HyperJar Kids’ Card?
Download the HyperJar app, sign up for your own account and order your own HyperJar spending card (this can be virtual or physical). Details of what you’ll need to sign-up are listed in the FAQs for the adult account.
Once you’ve ordered your own card you can order theirs by tapping on the Profile tab>Kids Cards & Accounts>Add Kids Card and follow the screen instructions.
Are there any fees for using HyperJar Kids’ Cards?
There are no monthly fees for HyperJar Kids' Cards, no matter how many you add to your account.
We charge a one-off £4.99 to cover the cost of issuing each kids’ card, but we give the adult account holder an instant £5.00 Amazon discount voucher for every one you order. So, if you order two cards, you’ll pay £9.98 but get £10.00 worth of Amazon vouchers instantly credited to your own HyperJar account. These vouchers are spent automatically when you buy something on Amazon using your own HyperJar card (not with a Kids’ Card).
There are two simple rules to keep things free when managing your HyperJar account and kids’ cards. Any transfers into your HyperJar account from a bank should be for £10.00 or more; and we limit transfers out of your HyperJar account back to a bank to 4 x a month. That’s it. You can learn more about our fees and limits here.

HyperJar Kids’ Cards for children who have their own mobile phone.
Here’s how to get your child started on their own phone:
Sign up for your own account and order their card/s. The cards don’t need to have arrived before you carry on with the next steps
Make sure you’re close by and ask them to download the app on their own phone. They’ll need to have their mobile number and email address handy (you will have created an email address for them children who get their own mobile number need to have anyway)
You can now go through the sign-up screens in the app on their phone. *Important* – the information you add at this stage must be theirs and not yours and should match the details you used when you ordered their cards (so if you entered their middle names/nicknames etc. you should use the same here)
You’ll now be prompted to share a QR code with them from your phone. This pairs their app to yours and the set-up is complete.
You can switch between your own profile and theirs by long pressing on the Profile tab on your phone – you'll see all names of any kids cards you have paired to your account and can choose which you want to view

Frequently Asked Questions
You can apply for a Kids’ Card for a child aged 6-17. Anyone 16+ can apply for their own full HyperJar account.
Kids’ Cards are always paired to an adult HyperJar account. That’s why we ask you to sign up for your own free account and card before you can order a card for your child.
First, deposit money into your own HyperJar account from a UK bank. To avoid paying any fees, make sure this is for £10 or more (particularly if you want to set up a regular standing order payment from your bank into your HyperJar account). You can do this from inside the app by tapping the Payments tab>Load money and follow the screens. Or send money directly from your bank app using your HyperJar account number and sort code which you can find on the Profile tab. The money should land in your account straight away as we’re a member of the Faster Payments scheme. If you have a dodgy WiFi or mobile signal it might take a bit longer.
You’ll see the money in the ‘Wallet’ - that’s the first jar on your Home screen. From there you can move money to any of your jars, including those you share with your kids.
For weekly or monthly pocket money and allowances, it’s easy to set up regular scheduled payments into any kids’ jar. Tap on Payments>Send, and then choose the amount you want to pay, where you want the money to come from (this could be your Wallet, or any of your jars) and the kids’ jar you want to send the money to. Then tap ‘When’ and choose the frequency and date.
Yes, children with their own mobile phone, mobile number and email address can download a version of the adult HyperJar app onto their device. Kids with their own app can create their own jars, move money between them and change which jars their card is linked to for spending.
No, we don’t yet offer a version of the HyperJar app that can be run from a tablet or iPad.
No. If your kids don't have their own phone and app, they can still get all the benefits of having their own spending card. You will get notifications each time they use their card and can manage their card spending and balances from your own device.
Yes. Kids can’t use their HyperJar cards to pay for gambling, including the National Lottery; at bars, nightclubs, pubs or off-licenses; for any adult services or content; or to buy cryptocurrencies.
Some hospitality, sports and leisure venues that sell alcohol will also decline payments from kids’ cards. The classification of these places as ‘venues selling alcohol’ is set by the businesses themselves and not by us, so unfortunately, we can’t do anything to make the cards work there in these circumstances.
Kids can’t get in touch with our customer support team directly, it always need to be the adult account holder. We have a brilliant customer support team, available 8am-10pm every weekday and 10am-6pm at weekends and on Bank Holidays. You can reach them from the app’s Profile tab>Customer Support & FAQs>Live Chat, or email support@hyperjar.com. We don’t yet offer call centre support.
