Rob and Julie's Story 1
Eek! We’re living together
Rob and Julie have been together for two years and just moved in together. It makes sense to be pooling money more often, and talking about it more – but a joint bank account just feels too much, and too soon. Using shared Jars allows them to share the parts of their financial lives they want to – budgeting and paying for things together – but without the commitment, risk, or hassle of a full joint account.
They use a shared Jar for regular grocery shopping – they put in £100 a month each and top up if they need to, and they each put £50 a month into a Holiday Jar. That pays for their day-to-day expenses and lets them save up for their next trip together. They also have a Jar just for lunches out and are looking forward to using that more! Rob and Julie both use the car so they both buy HMoney from Shell and put it into a shared Driving Jar to get almost 5% growth on their petrol money. Either of them can fill up the car whenever it’s empty without worrying about splitting the cost later.
Rob and Julie's Story 2
Stuff with friends
Rob’s a Spurs fan as he grew up in London, and he’s hoping to do a few away games next season with his mates from Walthamstow, Ian and Ahmed. They have an Away Days shared Jar for things like train tickets or a few beers.
Julie was supposed to go to Glastonbury this year until it was postponed, but she and her friend Lu are lined up for ’22. They have a shared Jar with £20 a month each going in. They already have their tickets – Aerosmith are rumoured to be headlining – but they’ll need money for transport, food, new outfits and of course a bottle of Stoli vodka.
Rob and Julie's Story 3
Supporting local
Apart from Spurs, another of Rob’s London loves is Mondo Brewing. He got into their mini-kegs last year, and still orders a delivery them every couple of months now he’s in Cardiff. Julie’s also developed a taste for craft beer. Rob buys £20 of Mondo HMoney every month. It grows in value until he spends it, and they send him offers and rewards too. He could buy cheaper beer, but he likes their products, and likes supporting an independent brewery with HyperJar Local.

Lee and Kelly's Story 1
Our House
The food, the dog, the wine. Lee and Kelly both love to eat and drink. They’re flexitarians and eat a fair amount of vegan food, so Grubby’s delivery boxes are great for them. They have a shared Jar with Grubby and Laithwaites HMoney in it. It’s a pleasure to plan for this stuff and as a bonus the growth rate is really good. They also have cash for general groceries in this shared Jar. Then there’s the little emperor, Boo the dog. Only the best for him – they recently started getting his food from Butternut Box.
Lee and Kelly's Story 2
Love of vinyl
Lee’s been a vinyl collector since college. Kelly occasionally gives him a hard time about the space and money that goes on his records – but it’s a passion for him. Mainly ska and house. There are tons of good record shops in Bristol so he has a Jar just for vinyl – current balance £146.
Lee and Kelly's Story 3
Painting
Kelly loves to paint. The oils and the canvas costs can add up, so she has a scheduled payment of a tenner every week from her wallet to her Painting jar. It quietly builds up and when she goes to the art shop in town there’s usually enough to cover what she wants.

Anthony and Joe's Story 1
YOO-ESS-AY!
Anthony and Joe are hoping for the trip of a lifetime in spring 2022: clubbing in Miami, then the train up the eastern seaboard, followed by a week of culture in New York. They have flights held and are saving spending money together in a shared Jar. And they can spend directly on their HyperJar cards when they get there, as there’s no charge on international transactions.
Anthony and Joe's Story 2
Restaurants
Eating out is a big part of their life – their favourite restaurant is Brat off Shoreditch High Street. They’re spoilt for choice locally, so much so they’ve set up a Jar for the two of them to budget for restaurants. It was getting out of control! They’re financially healthier now, and a bit slimmer too.
Anthony and Joe's Story 3
The day to day
Life’s not all holidays and delicious dinners. They have an ‘everything’ Jar, kind of an easy joint account for life’s necessities. Household stuff, the occasional bill like a broken washing machine, and for food and vet fees for their cats Elvis and Otis. Anthony also shares a Jar with a couple of other friends to buy a birthday present next month for their mate Helen.

Kwame and Colleen's Story 1
More intuitive money
Kwame has struggled with finance apps in the past as they are quite text heavy and ledger based. HyperJar’s a lot more visual and colourful – organising money into Jars gives him a sense of control he never had before.
Kwame and Colleen's Story 2
Shared bills
Kwame used to send money to Colleen to help with bills. Something was always missing or late or misunderstood, and it caused a lot of needless arguments. Now they use shared Jars for expenses, it’s totally clear and easy, everything feels much more settled. Colleen can even message Kwame in the Jar to remind him of a payment – it’s a lot easier for him to follow up on it when he is in the app already.
Kwame and Colleen's Story 3
Pimp my ride
Kwame is really into his car – a Merc Kompressor – and wants some new alloy rims. In the past, he’s used credit to pay for upgrades and felt really stressed about paying it back. Now he saves money in his Car Jar, so when he treats himself he feels good about it.
